Abraham’s Blog: Economic matters

Economic matters « Abraham’s Blog
Everyone knows something is coming

We can all feel it. No one really knows what it is. One thing seems certain though that whatever the dark cloud that now hangs over us it has some huge economic component to it. I read something a few weeks ago on The Urban Survival website http://www.urbansurvival.com/week.htm about how the official unemployment number as reported is artificially low. The writer over there had a much simpler method of just asking your friends and family. In my circle the number of people laid off in the past year is over 15%. Ask what around do you come up with?

My anecdotal test which resulted in a 15% give or take unemployment rate, ties out nicely to a chart I saw on the Shadow Stat website, http://www.shadowstats.com/alternate_data.

Okay, view from the junk land dirt. It just didn’t sound that great for a title. This is obviously just common sense, but also one of those things you need to experience for it to sink in proper. I’m looking at things differently since I’ve been here. Everything went according to plan when I first got here, almost exactly as I had been envisioning and planning. The things such as utilities and sewer and water. What changed was how once all those details had been attended to, my priorities could then shift to more of a post-collapse planning.

Know The Lies: Extremely High Security for Obama

Extremely High Security for Obama | Know The Lies - America’s new motto… “Please Prepay In Advance”
Emory Douglas of the Black Panthers rights group said: “Nothing can be taken for granted that he actually will be the next President of the United States. There are people who don’t want Obama in that position and some of them are powerful.

“There could easily be an assassination or a campaign to ruin him before he begins his term because of what he represents.

Nothing is out of the question. Until January when he is inaugurated, we just don’t know if we will see a black man in charge.”

Fears for Mr Obama’s safety began the moment he entered the race for the White House and investigations are on-going into potential threats from race-hate groups in and outside the US.

As America celebrated yesterday the mood in both Secret Service and FBI headquarters was sombre as the scale of the task was analysed.

One security source said: “It’s not the crazies who tell you what they’re gonna do that are dangerous, it’s the crazies that don’t. And we all know they’re out there. It only takes one lunatic racist with a gun, one deranged extremist with a single bullet, one determined white supremacist, to end it all.

“And you can bet there are plenty of angry, disturbed people lining up for the chance to be that one.”

Mr Obama and his family spent the Presidential campaign with more full-time Secret Service agents – a team of 10 – than any other candidate in the history of the race.

That will now be increased, with a squad of six agents assigned to his wife Michelle, 44, and another six to watch over their daughters Malia, 10 and Sasha, seven.

Mr Obama’s limousine, supplied by the Secret Service, is bulletproof and reinforced to withstand bomb attack.

A team of specialist investigators from the FBI has also been assigned to work alongside the Secret Service to monitor America’s 487 known white supremacist groups.

Senior advisers have already discussed with Mr Obama the possibility of him wearing a lightweight bullet-proof vest during public appearances – a proposal he has so far resisted, but which Secret Service chiefs are expected to insist upon.

Many fear an assassination attempt is simply a matter of time. Mississippi Democratic representative Bennie Thompson told Secret Service chiefs: “As an African-American who was witness to some of this nation’s most shameful days during the civil rights movement, I know personally that the hatred of some of our fellow citizens can lead to heinous acts of violence.”

Yet insiders admit the threat could come from many quarters: pro-lifers who fear Mr Obama will enshrine Americans’ abortion rights; religious fundamentalists; terrorists both foreign and domestic.

Obama advisers discuss preparations for war on Iran « Therearenosunglasses’s Weblog
On the eve of the US elections, the New York Times cautiously pointed on Monday to the emergence of a bipartisan consensus in Washington for an aggressive new strategy towards Iran. While virtually nothing was said in the course of the election campaign, behind-the-scenes top advisers from the Obama and McCain camps have been discussing the rapid escalation of diplomatic pressure and punitive sanctions against Iran, backed by preparations for military strikes.

The article entitled “New Beltway Debate: What to do about Iran” noted with a degree of alarm: “It is a frightening notion, but it not just the trigger-happy Bush administration discussing—if only theoretically—the possibility of military action to stop Iran’s nuclear weapons program… [R]easonable people from both parties are examining the so-called military option, along with new diplomatic initiatives.”

Behind the backs of American voters, top advisers for President-elect Barack Obama have been setting the stage for a dramatic escalation of confrontation with Iran as soon as the new administration takes office. A report released in September from the Bipartisan Policy Center, a Washington-based think tank, argued that a nuclear weapons capable Iran was “strategically untenable” and detailed a robust approach, “incorporating new diplomatic, economic and military tools in an integrated fashion”.
