SurvivalBlog.com: A Successful Search for a Survival Retreat Property

SurvivalBlog.com
we wanted to share our story with your readers who may not have been able to acquire their retreats yet, and worry they never will. We hope our story will inspire them….

We sold our home in record time recently (big shock) and then went on a major hunt to find our “perfect spot”…we have been preparing and stocking up and looking to find the area we wanted to buy retreat in and start in earnest to live self-sufficiently, hoping and praying when the time came it would all come together.

We had very specific parameters: minimum of 40 acres, very private and secluded but yet close to a small community, a year round creek or spring fed pond was of high importance, and of course our house had to sell in this terrible market and for a good price to reduce debts and leave enough money for a new location…not too much to ask for eh?
well, this is what we wanted to share: We found a place that had been in a farmers family for multiple generations, had numerous barns, fencing, a well, and a year round creek, everything we were looking for already there and in great working order! It was off the beaten path by about seven miles, but visible from the country road that led to it. Still a beautiful property and reasonably priced for the 40 acres.

Gas Shortages Across the South and General SHTF News – Here We Go!
Look, you were all probably expecting me to cover the bail out news, the failed congressional rescue attempt, the biggest single point decline for the Dow in all history, general economic uncertainty, dire predictions, and so forth, but I’m sure you’re reading all about that in the news, and on other blogs. There’s no need for me to cover it here other than to say this is just one layer, albeit a big layer, in what could be brewing as a perfect SHTF storm.

Johnson Family Farm: A Little About Woodstoves

Johnson Family Farm: A Little About Woodstoves
I guess this is really a little about my woodstove but, you get the idea. I have posted about this stove before but thought this might be a good time of year to bring it up again. We were looking for a used fireplace insert last summer without any luck. There were some out there but not what we were looking for. When it seemed all hope for a used one was lost a call came, it was Liv’s uncle back in West Virginia. He asked if we had ever found a stove yet, no we hadn’t. He then proceeded to tell us that a friend that I had went to school with back in the day had one that he said we could have for FREE !!! Liv’s uncle Scotty looked it over and said it looked to be in great working condition, just needed a little paint. So I was off to WV on a stove run. My friend (Conrad) who had the stove said he was just goning to haul it to the junk yard because he couldn’t find anyone that wanted it. Think about that, no one was willing to just pick this stove up for free. Well after I got home with the stove I cleaned it up a bit and spray painted it with heat resistent black paint and it was ready to go. Fit our space perfect and looks pretty good too.

Her books, which are available here in eBook format, detail many interesting areas to visit on the cheap, and specific free camp sites. Each covers a particular area; one covers south Texas and the other covers Arizona. She is currently working on a book covering Utah, and plans to cover other areas as well.

Know The Lies: U.S. (?) Warns Russia of ‘Punitive Measures’!

U.S. (?) Warns Russia of ‘Punitive Measures’! | Know The Lies - Controlled from cradle to grave… Sick of it? Stand up before it’s too late!!!
Russia will face a “very strong reaction” from Washington and others if it does not meet an Oct. 10 deadline to withdraw troops from “security zones” around Georgia’s breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, a senior U.S. official said Thursday. (Yea right!)

Daniel Fried, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs, said Moscow would find itself more isolated and its reputation further damaged if it did not comply with obligations laid down in a French-brokered ceasefire deal.

“Does Russia want to be seen as even more risky to do business in than it is now? What kind of a long-term relationship does Russia want to have with the world?” he told Reuters in an interview.

“If the Russians have not complied by Oct. 10 there would be a very strong reaction,” Fried added.
