There are also totalitarian ramifications to be considered. Governmental coercion is largely restrained by the fact that people will resist governmental violence that crosses a certain threshold. But when the threshold is subtle and justified under the rubric of being more humane or combating terrorism (as in requiring airline passengers to wear taser bracelets), it becomes more difficult to find the outrage necessary to oppose it.

Lest we forget, government domination is not usually accomplished by methods so dramatic that they spark a backlash from citizens. Thus, the real threat to freedom posed by such non-lethal weapons is a governmental system of coercion so well designed that it does not breed revolt.

Of the people I know, the majority of those who don’t/aren’t/can’t prepare for disaster usually have one thing in common–they have one (or more) major problem that takes all of their time, effort, money, and attention. By this I mean they are alcoholics, drug addicts, spend-a-holics, seriously ill, have major financial drama, have major relationship drama, or the like. Of these problems, the only one that a person has very little control over is being seriously ill. The rest of these problems can be fixed if the person so afflicted takes care of what ails them.

I will also not go into detail on certain subjects that can easily be researched. If I did, I would surely exceed any limit on how large a document on the subject should be. Rather I will concentrate on things learned in the field, not in any manual.
