I’ve since started building my long position in gold (and silver), and I surprised myself by deciding quite early on to hold physical metals rather than to express my long position synthetically. This was particularly surprising, because I am just barely of the view that an extreme economic collapse could be coming, and by both profession and education, our household is very knowledgeable about capital markets. We’re more or less optimistic about the future; I mean, we live in New York City, of all places!

I did it! I made pinto beans from scratch. I only cheated a little. I cooked them in the crock pot on high for about 3 hours. It’s the biggest pot I have. Plus, it keeps from heating up the house. Also, since I don’t eat meat anymore, I used Crisco for the fat.

Kim at Ruby’s Big Adventure inspired this one, thanks! This is something that I think is pretty important. None of us, myself especially, can remember everything. Especially facts, figures, and minute details. Journals are also great for jotting down thoughts and ideas as well. You can make your journal as detailed, or as sparse as you want it, but there’s a few things that I think will be important to keep track of come TEOTWAWKI.
