Survivalist Blog: The Underground Economy

The Underground Economy | Survivalist Blog
As the price of life continues to blow past the threshold of bearability, I’ve noticed some really interesting things going on. For instance, a guy who owns (well, occupies anyway) a home on the “main drag” has started selling refurbished washers and dryers. Of course he has a sign up soliciting your broken down machines, for which he’ll pay you cash (and I suspect he only takes cash for his products, which is fine and dandy to me). On his front lawn sits 4 or 5 washers and dryers for sale, and the inventory changes fairly regularly. Let me just say “Bravo!” to this guy, he’s found himself a way to, shall we say, “circumvent” the system. And he’s providing a valuable product to other folks who are feeling the pinch as well.

Staying Alive: A GENERAL COMMENT ON SOCIAL SECURITY AND OTHER THINGS

Staying Alive: A GENERAL COMMENT ON SOCIAL SECURITY AND OTHER THINGS
I paid into Social Security all my working years. And that was when I worked for General Motors and the money was backed by Gold. The Social Security system was set up to be a payroll deduction scheme. You paid into it when ever you got a check. And there were not too many ways out of it. I remember pictures of the Amish getting their horses confiscated right from the field where they were being worked. This was in the 50’s. Our wonderful G-men were right out there in the fields of Pennsylvania taking horses from the Amish, who would never take a check from the fedgov anyhow. That payment was DEMANDED by the fedgov come hell or high water. And it was all supposed to go into the fund supposedly set aside to pay us our pension.

Keep It Simple Survival!: “Alternative” Housing
I been thinkin’ about this a lot lately, mostly because I really need to get rid of this suburban noose around my neck. And hey, when ideas for posts pop into my head, I gotta put ‘em down before I lose ‘em!

For me, and my unique situation, an RV makes the most sense. Hey, it’s basically a miniature house on wheels, with everything you need already there. And they’re pretty affordable in the grand scheme of things. But there are many other options worth exploring, and being the “counter culture” kinda guy I am, I like most of ‘em. I’ve always gone against the grain, and these options all make me smile.

DestinySurvival.com: Survival Hunting Requires Proper Training

Survival Hunting Requires Proper Training
Just as there are many new first time gardeners this year, I suspect there may be many would-be first time hunters this fall. It’s not too early to start thinking about this because, if you’re one of those who have never hunted, but think you can shoot a squirrel or rabbit for dinner like Grandpa, you’ll want to take time to get proper training to do it safely and responsibly. In addition to knowing firearms safety, there are laws and regulations about licenses and hunting seasons which vary from state to state. Now is the time to start asking questions and getting the answers you need.
