Newsmax.com - Chertoff: European Terrorists Trying to Enter U.S.
European terrorists are trying to enter the United States with European Union passports, and there is no guarantee officials will catch them every time, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said Thursday.

Chertoff’s comments on Capitol Hill comes as the country is entering a potentially vulnerable period with the presidential nominating conventions coming up next month; the presidential election in November; and the transition to a new administration in January — all of which may be attractive targets for terrorists.

Staying Alive: LATE IN THE NIGHT

Staying Alive: LATE IN THE NIGHT

I have been noticing the gangs around the country. Big city gangs are sending guys into the armed forces to go to Iraq and learn urban warfare. Now why would an inner city gang be interested in learning urban warfare? Could it be that they smell something coming and want to be prepared? Could it be that they have something in mind to do whether the system goes down or not? Could it be that Whitey has a dismal future in the city? I laugh when I hear people deny that gangs have a command and control system. They are some of the most rigidly controlled groups in the country. You don’t disobey. You don’t fuck up. You never let the gang down. The gang is a machine that functions as a machine. Try not to get in the way of these bastards. They will kill you and take all you have.

Keep It Simple Survival!: Chattin’ With The Neighbors
The neighbor across the street, a fireman for the city, said he’d gone from having $14,000 in savings, to $200 in the last year. Gas, utilities, groceries, kid’s college, and property taxes ate up the rest. Not good!!! The other guy, retired from the Army Depot (I think), is in a little better shape, mostly because his kids are grown and gone. Me and the fireman still got kids to feed and clothe. Anyways, us workin’ folks ain’t doing so hot.

Notes from the Bunker: Signs of the times, food

Signs of the times, food
It may get boring at times, but I’d say at the very least we’ve got nine months of food put back and, in reality, probably closer to 12-15 months depending on the menu planning. It aint all rice and beans either…theres a goodly amount of rice, to be sure, but theres also pasta, meat, eggs, canned vegetables, MREs, potatoes, etc, etc. Just from a mathematical standpoint the wheat I have on hand right now could, at the rate mentioned in the earlier paragraph, provide breakfast for about a year. Shake it up a little with scrambled eggs, fruit compote, hash, and a few other traditional breakfast foods and I’d say we’ve got The Most Important Meal Of The Day covered for about 14-18 months.
